Special Match is a boutique matchmaking service for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

At Special Match, we believe meaningful connections start with people, not apps. Our personalized, in-person matchmaking service is designed exclusively for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. We take the timebto get to know you—your interests, values, and goals—and introduce you to members we believe could be a great fit.
Whether you’re looking to date, find someone special to share your life with, or simply connect with a new friend, every match is made thoughtfully and respectfully. You’ll always decide who you want to meet, and we’ll be here
to support you along the way.

We Offer Two Models
Match-Direct
Match-Direct is our independent model for those who want to take the lead in their matchmaking journey. You and your “Support Contact” (a family member or caregiver) will receive your matches directly and arrange the first meeting together. We encourage Support Contacts to quietly “shadow” that first date and share feedback afterward — helping us continue to learn and make each connection even more meaningful. Match-Direct is fully supported by our nonprofit — there are no fees to participate.
Match-Supported (coming soon!)
Our Match-Supported option offers an extra layer of professional guidance for those who would benefit from coaching and real-time support. This fee-based model pairs you with a board-certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and/or Behavioral Therapist (BCBA) who can help make the dating experience more comfortable and successful.

Support may include:

Pre-date coaching to review conversation skills, social expectations, and body language

Help planning logistics and easing anxiety around new situations

Practice in social communication to build confidence

On-call guidance for families and caregivers

Optional facilitation of the first date — your SLP or BCBA can attend to help guide the interaction and provide real-time support

While not every date will turn into a relationship, every experience with Special Match is an opportunity to grow. We’re committed to helping young adults build confidence, strengthen social skills, and enjoy positive, real-world connections. Each meeting is a chance to make a new friend, learn something new about yourself, and practice skills that carry into every part of life — from friendships and family to work and independence.
